Definition 

To qualify as passive, a house must reduce its heating energy costs by about 80% compared to a new house.

Thermal insulation, airtightness, double-flow ventilation (with heat recovery) are the main principles of passive house design.

At VAL LACHARD these three points have been studied to be particularly effective.

Characteristics

Contrary to a classical construction, the air renewal is permanent (24h/24h) and very efficient (double filtration / flow 1000m3/h).

Exhaust air - through CO2, odours, steam or VOCs, Organo-Volatile Compounds - is continuously extracted from the building. At the level of the rooms, the air is constantly renewed including all night long, which is not the case in a classic house where in the morning, the rooms are filled with CO2 exhaled all night long!

This equipment is the equivalent of the human lungs.
Opening the windows to "ventilate" is therefore useless in terms of air renewal.

The temperature of a traditional habitat comes essentially from the power of the heating, while a passive house has a very high inertia. Leaving the windows or doors open (doors to the outside and front doors of the apartments) destabilizes this inertia.
